Two years of planning. And now it's here.
I've been thinking a lot about what travel actually does for me. Not just the destinations but what happens on the inside when I step outside of my regular environment.
Traveling requires intention. You have to plan it. Budget for it. Request the time off from work. Make arrangements for everything and everyone you're responsible for. And then you have to actually "decide" to go.
That act alone is choosing yourself.
And once you're all the way in it, the airport, the layover, the long flight...something shifts. The noise of your regular life gets quiet. You're not rushing to the next thing. You're just fully present.
There's a saying I've always held onto: when you pray, you talk to God. When you meditate, you listen.
For me, travel is that space of listening.
New environments. Different cultures. Different food, different weather, different scenery. All of it opens something up in me. Its like it ignites something spectacular. It expands what I believe is possible. It gives me room to think about who I'm becoming and what I actually want.
Not what's expected of me. Not what I've always done.
Just what I want.
I get clarity when I travel. Downloads. Inspiration. Ideas I couldn't have easily accessed from inside my regular routine.
That's what a change of environment does. It creates space for you to hear what you couldn't hear when life was too loud.
