Hey Reader,
Let me ask you something.
Have you ever stopped to look at the difference between the life you say you want and the life your everyday decisions are creating?
Not the life you hope to have someday. Not the life you’re planning to get around to when things settle down.
The life you’re actually living right now.
Because it’s one thing to say you want more peace, more joy, better health, deeper relationships, or more time for yourself. It’s another thing to look at how you’re spending your time, where your energy is going, what you’re giving your attention to, and whether any of those things are helping you create the life you say you want.
And I don’t say that to make you feel bad about yourself.
Life is complicated. Responsibilities are real. Some seasons require more from us than others, and sometimes our options are limited by circumstances beyond our control.
But there are also times when we get so accustomed to living a certain way that we stop questioning it.
We keep saying yes because we’ve always said yes.
We keep putting ourselves last because that’s what we’ve always done.
We keep accepting things that don’t feel good because, somehow, we’ve convinced ourselves that it’s easier than doing something differently.
We say we want to take better care of ourselves, but our own needs keep getting pushed to the bottom of the list.
We say we want more joy, but we rarely make room for anything that brings us joy.
And sometimes, we say we want a different life while continuing to make decisions that keep us right where we are.
It’s not always that you don’t know what you want. Sometimes it’s that your current patterns aren’t making room for it.
And that’s worth paying attention to.
Here’s what I want you to understand: recognizing that your decisions and habits aren’t aligned with what you want doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It doesn’t mean you’re behind. And it damn sure doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you.
It means you’ve noticed something.
And awareness gives you an opportunity to do something different.
You can’t change what you haven’t acknowledged. And you don’t have to change everything at once.
Maybe you start by looking at your relationship with your time.
Are you making room for yourself, or does everybody else’s schedule determine what you do with yours?
Maybe it’s your relationships.
Are you showing up as your authentic self, or are you constantly adjusting, accommodating, and keeping the peace at your own expense?
Maybe it’s your body and your well-being.
Are you treating yourself like someone whose health and happiness matter, or are you waiting until everything else is handled before you give yourself that same consideration?
Or maybe it’s something else entirely.
The point isn’t to compare your life to anybody else’s. It’s to get honest about your own.
Because the woman you want to become isn’t created by what you say you want. She’s shaped by the decisions, habits, and patterns you begin practicing in your everyday life.
And no, you won’t get it right every time. Hell neither will I.
This isn’t about perfection. It’s about paying attention.
So here’s a question I’d like you to sit with this week:
Where is there a gap between what you say you want and what your current choices are supporting?
We listen and we don’t judge LOL. Just be honest.
Then ask yourself one more question:
What’s one small decision I could make differently this week that would move me a little closer to the life I want?
Not multiple decisions. Not a complete life overhaul. This is not an Iyanla Fix your Life moment.
One decision.
Maybe it’s protecting an hour for yourself. Maybe it’s finally saying no to something you don’t have the capacity for. Maybe it’s making that appointment, having that conversation, or giving yourself permission to pursue something you’ve been putting off.
Whatever it is, let it be a decision that reflects the woman you’re becoming.
And if you’re sitting here thinking, Echo, I know I need to make some changes, but honestly, I’m not even sure where to start, I want to invite you to take my Self-Love Assessment.
I created it to help you take a closer look at your relationship with yourself and identify areas where you may need more attention, care, or support.
Sometimes we know we’re ready for something different, but we haven’t taken the time to understand where we are right now.
This is an opportunity to do just that.
[TAKE THE SELF-LOVE ASSESSMENT →]
You don’t have to have your entire life figured out today. You don’t need a perfect plan or all the answers.
You just need to be willing to look at where you are, get honest about what you want, and consider what might need to change.
Because this journey isn’t about becoming somebody else.
It’s about building a life that reflects the woman you’re becoming—and learning to include yourself in the process.
Take what you need, leave what you don’t, but always put you first.
With love,
Ms. Echo
